“Pet rocks, sock puppets, pillow forts, bottle rockets… How do things become playthings? How can the boundless potential of childlike imagination be imbued in sculptural objects? Featuring modified found objects that make goofy or unexpected characters out of both ordinary and odd materials, Plaything is an invitation to engage with playful objects on a playful platform. As the gallery’s inaugural show, these works and their method of presentation are absurd, joyful, and serendipitous—aligning with the spirit of Tiny Table Gallery."

Tiny Table Gallery is a Chicago-based artist-run exhibition venue that focuses on displaying small scale, three-dimensional work. The gallery “space” is a single salesman sample table that can easily travel between artists’ homes, outdoor parks, storefront windows, and anywhere that art should be. TTG strives to create a collaborative venue that affirms the importance of small art and provides a space for artists without the pressure of needing to fill an entire gallery.
